I'm a leftie, I must be losing my mind...

The hope of a political blog will be quashed early at this stage. Instead I wish to bring to everyone's attention the continuing research into the phenomena that is being left handed.
I myself am a proud 'leftie', and love reading stories about how left handed people can do x or y quicker or better than their right handed counterparts.
Now, apparently scientists have found a left handed gene. Which, ultimately means nothing other than to those, frankly weird people who wish to create a baby with blue eyes, blonde hair and a specifically right handed writing style. It is too easy at this point to call such wishes 'Aryan' and wonder what Hitler would have done with the technology that we now have available to us?
This news though is diluted somewhat by the knowledge that lefties are more prone to schizophrenia. Great. Although the scientists are keen to maintain that the increased risk is only minute, the knowledge that it is there is very slightly discomforting.
On the plus side though, left handed people think more quickly when playing games or sport, left handers are better in a fight, and they view the world differently to right handed people. Which is a good thing. Apparently.
So now I try to think about famous people who are left handed. I am informed that apparently Joan of Arc, Bill Clinton, Napoleon, Fidel Castro, Bart Simpson, Jimi Hendrix, Kermit the Frog, Pele and many others are lefties. Which is great. Only three of them were revolutionaries. Well, unless you include Kermit. Anyway, left handed people have been prominent in society throughout the course of time and being in a world which increasingly is sidelining the white male (a completely different issue, into which I will not enter now), it is nice to be part of a group which is distinct yet unifying.
